♡The impact of AI on Communication and Media- The Future of the workplace

Just two years ago, we were barely holding online meetings; then COVID-19 happened, and suddenly, all these digital places and technologies were everywhere.
A major factor in the change was the rise in popularity of different forms of media. wherein the extended lockdown times gave the always-on parents a chance to re-visit programming and resources that they normally wouldn’t have time for.
During this time, e-commerce and SVOD platforms like Amazon  Prime saw meteoric rises in popularity that caught many by surprise. It didn’t take long for physical events and socializing to be replaced by their digital counterparts. Streaming or live streaming of meetings at social and professional levels and using services like  Restream have made it nearly impossible to hold a meeting without live video reducing the need to have everyone physically present. Restream allows you to live stream across platforms at the touch of a button.
The tools have altered our perspectives and practices. The proliferation of media in this arena has sped up the advent of XR as a novel medium, with Meta trying to upsell the brand across different demographics and countries which in turn has paved the way for the maturation of AI.
In essence, what is AI or better known- Artificial intelligence?

1. . . . artificial intelligence, the science of making machines do things that would require intelligence if done by men. (Minsky, 1968, p. v) 2.

By “artificial intelligence” I . . . mean the use of computer programs and programming techniques to cast light on the principle

“Intelligence is the capacity of an information-processing system to adapt to its environment while operating with insufficient knowledge and resources” (Wang)

The theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks normally requiring human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages

On November 30, the world for the first time got access to AI tools on Chatgpt.
Users have been captivated by the ability to input data into a system and have the system regurgitate information in response to their questions, leading to the rapid expansion of available resources and getting answers from the capacity to ask those questions.
One million new ChatGPT users were added in less than a week!
Writesonic is another tool that has taken the globe by storm since it simplifies the process of managing the various assets involved in digital marketing, in particular the responsibilities associated with copywriting and the development of ad texts. in addition to having a tool that developers may use for nearly any tool, including copygenius , and another for the creation of visuals via the input of data, this one has a broad scope and is simple to use.
Other than its flagship product, Open AI also offers Mid journey and DALL.E, both of which provide the automated creation of visual content in response to user input.
Let’s have a look at the thispersondoesntexist site created by NVIDIA and co., which gives you portraits of people and individuals who don’t exist. (The cover image for the article was generated on this site)
What does that portend for the media and creative industry?
In essence, as the tools become better and better as data is developed, there will be no need for artists or photographers for image generation and for voice-over services and, as the technologies improve such tools as revoicer and speechlo- AI tools developed for voice-over development will be in constant use consequently no need for human intervention in the industry that has employed millions in the past,  the impact on the creative and, more specifically, the broadcasting industry will be massive
It’s interesting to note that as the tools get more user-friendly, the challenges of deciding which tools to employ in the arduous task of brand-building and market promotion only increase with time, and ethical issues keep coming up with the advent of such tools.
As we marvel at this breakthrough, it’s critical to remember that the tools were motivated by the need to verify human capital as a critical productivity indicator. What will happen once human capital is no longer a consideration?
Particularly in the Kenyan setting, where unemployment and lack of resources are already issues, some of the questions need to be solved before they quickly become an issue.
At the same time that I’m anxious, I can’t help but be excited about the possibilities that space holds.
Holding off judgment because the experiment might turn out well but we’re not willing to test it.
